Follow Friday! Peachy Keen Coordination

It is Follow Friday! Wait, what is that? Follow Friday will be a day designated to fellow business owners that I greatly admire and have worked with in the past and will be working with in the future. Too often we get wrapped up in business and in life. We hire people to work for us without getting to know who they are. What makes their business unique? Why is it they love what they do? This is where I would love to shed some light. Follow Fridays will host a plethora of unique businesses from photography to fine art replica designers. I am so excited and honored to introduce to you the creative minds of the working world and what they do make our lives a little more magical.

Cindy - Peachy Keen Coordination - Portland Oregon

Tell us a little about you!

Peachy Keen Coordination is a boutique wedding coordination business based in Portland that believes all brides and grooms deserve [and have earned] the right to sip on a mimosa and relax on their wedding day. Owner, coordinator, stylist, and "boss lady", Cindy strives to provide that opportunity to her clients.

Cindy is a strong advocate and lover of love; there are several contributions that fuel this, but she shares that one of the major drives is inspiration from her couples. "Each wedding is incredibly different and I think it's critical that this is reflected on their big day. Something that is different in her business practice is working with couples who she is able to form long-term friendships with. "I have the opportunity to be present for such an intimate moment in their story and feel that simply being the 'hired help' isn't always enough support when planning a wedding."

Oh, AND Cindy recently became engaged herself! Her fiancé, Kyle has been a major part of the planning and looks forward to assisting Cindy on many weddings in the near future. If you're lucky, you just may see them working onsite together!

Cindy also works on the administration team for a school district in the Portland surrounding areas where she works with a plethora of logistics. The few nights that she takes 'off' from both businesses you may find her curled up on the couch on a cloud of blankets with her two corgis at her feet while she binge watches repeats of Pretty Little Liars or a Disney movie...all while sipping on a chilled white wine, of course. She is able to quote the entire Lilo and Stitch movie and is quickly learning all the songs from the movie Moana. Her fiancé handles these obsessions like a champ!

1. What inspired you to become a wedding planner?

There are lots of reasons why I hoped that someday I would be able to have the privilege to become a wedding coordinator. That said, I never thought that I would have the honor of creating a blossoming business out of it. Frankly, I’m someone who loves love -- and while that’s very ‘oh duh’ to some, it’s not for everyone. I enjoy digging into people’s love stories, learning what makes their relationship thrive, and where they hope their future takes them. The wedding day is the day that a couple makes the promises to love unconditionally, and who wouldn’t want to be a small part of that celebration?

2) What is the most challenging moment of your job?

My absolute favorite moment is when my clients walk back up the aisle as a married couple. The amount of joy they share is un-measurable, but it also often reiterates the purpose and benefits of hiring a day-of-coordinator. There is a good amount of work that goes into this critical and limited period of time when transitioning from ceremony to reception. Often times we are spoiled with the help of a cocktail hour as a distraction...but we must remember that there are many tasks like signing the marriage certificate (with all appropriate parties present), flipping the space into the reception, ensuring that guests have access to the bar, and even tedious tasks such as moving chairs from the ceremony to the reception.

3. Would you say you have a specific "style" you like to encourage above others?

I think the benefit to Peachy Keen Coordination is that we do not identify with a ‘style’ per say. We find that we connect with a variety of brides varying from preppy, country, urban, rustic, and organic. Peachy Keen Coordination has the ability to adapt well to our clients and their vision.

4. How are you able to service your clients?

Peachy Keen Coordination thrives off of servicing boutique coordination, which implies that we do not intend to take on more than one wedding per weekend. We believe that our clients deserve nothing short of the most exemplary services for their once-in-a-lifetime celebration.
